About MGA

MGA provides a wide range of custom programming services to clients anywhere in the world.

The principal, Mike Gossland, has 26 years of full-time computing experience, in a wide range of activities from back-end webserver operations to Windows desktop applications. As the chief software architect, developer and webmaster for a financial-analysis public corporation over a 15 year period, Mike has seen a lot of action on both the Windows and the Linux operating systems.

With this wealth of first-hand experience, Mike has come to specialize in a wide-ranging mix of of technologies. On the Windows side, he's an expert in TradeStation's EasyLanguage (a programming language for stock and commodity trading systems) as well as in Microsoft's Visual Studio and Excel programming platforms.

On the Linux side, he's a Perl guru who developed object-oriented Perl modules to read a high-volume financial data feed into a MySQL database and build complex stock charts in real-time. He also ran an e-commerce-enabled website with dynamic content and permissioned subscribers, so he has a great deal of CGI, Apache and MySQL experience. (This site offers the same Perl tutorial he taught to Perl novices at a community college.)

Mike earned a Master of Science in Physics in 1978 and a Professional Engineering license in the province of Ontario in 1989, transferred to BC in 2003. He has been serving as a Director of a public corporation for over 15 years.
